Bear with me...

Oh dear,  another month and a half have passed in which I have not managed to post anything.  Not for lack of anything to show you, as I have been busy.  But that is just the reason...I have been busy.  Very busy.

But now it is time to put up the Christmas decorations.  I can't put it off any longer...

Hang up the stockings and drape the tinsel.

And if it gets cold, get into bed with a good friend and maybe a book.

The painting is an impression of Govert Flinck's 'Girl by a High Chair' (1640).  The miniature oil painting was made by Elly Ypma. I really like how Elly paints in her own style, using existing paintings but, rather than slavishly copying them, she gives them her own touch.   Which in some cases I much prefer to an exact copy of an existing painting.

The adorable old, much loved bear was made by Jeanet Dekker of Classic Bears (no website).   She makes beautiful aged teddy bears and other stuffed toys.  I bought this bear at the DHN show in October, along with the sweet and cheerful soft garnet red bear, made by Elles Leenders.

Time to finish decorating!

    1. Yes that old loved bear is so wonderful! The doors are part of a room I am working on. They are actually sliding doors from a wall buffet, but I used them here to dress the scene. They took quite a bit of work to make them. The architrave around the door (which you can't see here) was even more work. But it was worth it. I'll show the photo's when it is all finished. At the moment the room is laying on its side while paneling is being glued down.

      Merry Christmas!

    1. Well I still have to decorate the real house, so I'm afraid the small one will have to wait until next year (again!)... Too little time...sigh! ;-)

For all readers happy holidays and a wonderful 2015!

      Hele fijne feestdagen Inge!

  17. Merry Christmas, Josje! Your bears are Exquisite! And the stockings...!!! I don't know how you manage to assemble such Divine arrangements of minis! And the painting is Gorgeous! I think every real artist cannot help but add their own "stamp" to a painting. This one is beautiful! I hope your RL Christmas is every bit as Enchanting as the mini one looks to be!

    1. Thank you Betsy. You're right about every artist adding their own stamp to their work, but I see a lot of miniature painters who try to copy existing paintings as precisely as they can (which is an art in itself). Elly Ypma makes changes to her miniature versions, add things to the background or leaves them out. She calls them impressions of...which of course is what they are.
      Have a wonderful Christmas!

Jeanet more or less sells out at the show in Apeldoorn, so she doesn't have anything left to sell on a website...All of her stuffed animals are adorable.
