Handwork...

Something I was working on a few months ago, a recessed buffet for a dining room.   The room was designed around some beautiful antique silver miniatures.  I will show the finished room next week.  For now, please enjoy my feature film 'Handwork':

  1. I love the shape of those gorgeous doors. What a great idea to magnetize the shelves so they can be moved. I can't wait to see your next post.

    1. Thanks Catherine. Yes the magnetized wall works perfectly. After all, the miniatures are not that heavy so the shelves stay put.

    1. Thank you Jeffry. I'm quite happy with the shape of the doors and the door frame too. It is a shame the doors have to be open to show the silver collection!

  3. Wow!!! What an incredible display cupboard... with sliding pocket doors! The shape is so unique and the usefulness of those movable bracket shelves is so imaginative and original! And your video to show it off is really superb!

    1. Thank you Betsy. The shape of these doors was popular in the early 18th century. I have used the doors of an existing house in the Hague as inspiration.

  4. I love pocket doors. I was disappointed that my 100 y.o. 1:1 house doesn't have them. Yours are gorgeous.
Who would have thought of a magnetized wall (you lol). So smart! May I ask where you got the magnet shelves?

    1. Thank you grandmommy ;-) I made the magnet shelves. I bought tiny strong magnets, made bracket shelves which were big enough to take a miniature and big enough to hold a magnet. Drilled a hole in the back, glued in the magnet, et voilà!
