I bought the blackbirds at the spring show in Arnhem. They were made by Georgia Marfels from Germany.

Ze zijn heel mooi gemaakt, de ene doet ook net zijn vleugels wijd voor aan te vallen. Mooie aanwinst weer,

  7. What a wonderful job she did making those birds. I think it adds a lot to a miniature scene to have a few animals. Be it fur or feathers.

I forgot what kind of dog you have. I am going to start making different breeds soon.

  17. Die zien er super leuk uit! Net alsof ze elkaar ook een beetje staan uit te kafferen om de kruimels! Net als in het echt! Erg leuke 'touch' voor op je stoepje.

  18. Carol, I also have them in my 1:1 garden. I love their song.

Margriet, ja twee mannetjes, want vrouwtjes merels zijn bruin. Dat vond ik ook zo leuk, dat die ene net z'n vleugels wijd doet.

Catherine, what kind of dog I have in my dolls house you mean? I have a little terrier which was made by Teeny Weeny Teddies, but I am always on the lookout for an Irish wolfhound.

Heleni, ze stond helemaal achterin de kerk, tegen de achtermuur zal ik maar zeggen. Het was echt zo'n standje waar je even moest kijken en dan steeds meer ontdekt.

  19. April, they're not crows but common blackbirds, the European kind. When I bought them my friend Annette told me that blackbirds (the ones we have here)have yellow bills and crows have grey or black ones. I should have known that as I have both birds in my 1:1 garden :)

  20. Claude, they are called 'merel' in Dutch, or 'Turdus merula' in Latin.
Too bad you missed the fair!

  23. Never underestimate the power of pictures, especially in miniature scenes. You are a very clever photographer. That's your biggest strength; you take pictures of any scene you make like it was a genuine 1:1 situation. The setting, camera point and lightning... The confusion it rises in the brain of anyone looking at it, is what adds quality to the mini's you show. And shows them off best!

  26. Love the fellow with the ruffled feathers having his say about what part is his share! I can hear the blackbirds in my yard right now ... squabbling over who gets what and when ... my blackbirds are sometimes more than a little aggressive! What a great job she's done on the sculpting, and Debora's right ... your photography does do so much for telling the story.

Catherine and I were speaking on the phone the other day and we both agreed that we love the way you place uour miniature items....the two little birds and their crumbs add perfection to the front of your house!!

  29. Debora, Monica and Linda, thank you for the compliment. I must say I do enjoy telling a little story in just a few photos. I think it is like making quick little sketches, little studies of life, only here I use my camera and my miniatures.
