Dolls house article in the Guardian

photo by José Alesón via guardian.co.uk

This morning I found a dolls house link which was shared on the Petit Pointers group I am a member of (thank you Cheryl!).   It is a wonderful article in the Guardian about dolls houses.    I enjoyed reading it and I thought you might as well:      Dolls' houses: it's a small world.

Make sure to read  the 'More on this story' section as it has more photos, and the comments also, as some of them are quite funny!

Edit February 2017:  Now we can enjoy much more of this beautiful dollshouse as Susana left a comment with the link to José Alesón's dollshouse "Victoriana":  alesonminiatures.jimdo.com
Thank you Susana!

  3. Thank you for this great article!!!

I have often wondered about the stories people have developed and woven through their dollhouses. Especially the houses we all know and love. I think a story is part of what breathes a soul into a house.

    1. You're welcome Catherine. Have you read the comment section? The writer is telling about this maker who is building a dolls house based on her genealogy. I would love to see that!

    2. I also would love to see a house based on someone's genealogy. That would be fascinating. Plus it is a great legacy to future generations of her family.

I have just gone back to read all the comments. It was interesting to see what the article provoked in the way of opinions and feelings from so many different people. The things that jumped out at me from that article were entirely different.

  7. Great article Josje! I really enjoyed it. It was great to see the entire house that Jose had put together. I had seen the lady's bedroom before in Miniaturas and really loved it. Great exposure for Kensington Doll show!

    1. Me again! Re the article on the woman basing her house around the genealogy of her family - there's an article regarding this in The Dolls' House Magazine - April 2011 issue.

    1. You're welcome! I had to google a picture of the WC bedroom because I didn't know it, but yes, the two rooms do have a very similar feel.

  12. That room looks just like an old B+B we stayed in once a couple of years ago.
